Maxwell 209 <br />City Attorney stated the returns have been canvassed by the <br />City Council of the City of La Porte; that said election <br />resulted in the election of the following named persons: <br />Councilperson-At-Large--Position A <br />Bob McLaughlin <br />Councilperson--District 4 <br />Deotis Gay <br />Councilperson--District 5 <br />Jack R. Maxwell <br />City Council decided to vote on both Item 6 and 7 at the same <br />time: <br />7. CANVASS VOTES AND CONSIDER ORDINANCE DECLARING RESULTS OF A <br />REFERENDUM ELECTION HELD MAY 6, 1995 (Ord 95-2030) - K. Asking <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE NO. 95-2030 - AN ORDINANCE <br />DECLARING THE RESULTS OF A REFERENDUM ELECTION HELD IN THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE ON MAY 6, 1995, FOR THE PURPOSE OF VOTING FOR <br />OR AGAINST A PROPOSITION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BY THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE FOR THE ACQUISITION OF BAY FRONT PROPERTY ON <br />GALVESTON BAY IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE, FOR PUBLIC PURPOSES; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Number of votes cast at said election are as follows: <br />"FOR" - 819 <br />"AGAINST" - 530 <br />The returns were canvassed by the City Council of the City of <br />La Porte; resulting in the passage of the proposition <br />authorizing an agreement by the City of La Porte for the <br />acquisition of bay front property on Galveston Bay in the City <br />of La Porte, for public purposes. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to adopt <br />Ordinances 95-2029 and 95-2030 as read by the City Attorney. <br />Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 9 ayes and <br />0 nays. <br />
