Phil Baxley Week <br /> <br />Mayor Malone proclaimed the week of August 20 - 27, 1995 as <br />Phil Baxley Week. Mayor Malone reported Mr. Baxley is in need <br />of a liver transplant and is trying to raise $15,000 through <br />fund raising projects. Mr. Baxley expressed his appreciation <br />to Council and the city of La Porte for their assistance in <br />his efforts <br /> <br />5. PRESENTATION <br /> <br />A. EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER (Leonard Nichols) <br /> <br />Mayor Malone reported the selection of Leonard (Nick) Nichols <br />as "Employee of the Quarter" for April, May, and June 1995. <br />Assistant utility Superintendent Don R. Pennell presented Mr. <br />Nichols with a plaque for his outstanding performance in his <br />position as Senior Maintenance utility Worker. Mr. Nichols <br />expressed his appreciation for this honor. <br /> <br />6. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND TAX <br />PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br /> <br />There were no citizens wishing to speak at this time. <br /> <br />7. PUBLIC HEARING - FOR THE PURPOSE OF CONDEMNING AND ORDERING <br />DEMOLITION OF DANGEROUS BUILDINGS <br /> <br />OPEN PUBLIC HEARING <br /> <br />REVIEW BY STAFF OF REQUEST <br /> <br />PUBLIC INPUT <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING CLOSED <br /> <br />Mayor Malone opened the public hearing at 6:12 P.M. Chief <br />Building Official Mark Lewis reviewed with Council the summary <br />and recommendation for the condemning and ordering the <br />demolition of thirteen (13) structures. Two (2) structures, <br />item M, located at 800 Blk. Santa Anna Lane and item 0, <br />located at 309 S. 5th were deleted from the list after posting <br />of the agenda due to the owners having the buildings <br />demolished prior to the City Council meeting. Inspector <br />Debbie Wilmore assisted with a video presentation <br />representative of the structures in question. <br />
