office of the Mayor <br />Texas, is a member <br />„� .,,� ...................�., .,,...b,..�rs of the American <br />Revolution; and <br />WHEREAS, each year the National Society Daughters of the American <br />Revolution sponsor February as American History Month; and <br />WHEREAS, through the study of American History we are made aware of the <br />importance of Freedom, Equality, Justice and Humanity in all our lives today; and <br />WHEREAS, American History stimulates a knowledge in both young and old <br />and a sense of pride in our Nation's great achievements and dedication to liberty; and <br />WHEREAS, pride in the United States of American is expressed in La Porte, <br />Texas, through community services in educational programs, essay contests, and history <br />preservation. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, NORMAN L. MALONE, MAYOR of the <br />City of La Porte, do hereby proclaim the month of February, 1996, as <br />"AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH" <br />in the City of La Porte, and urge all citizens to join with me in recognizing the importance of <br />American History in our lives. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal <br />of the City to be affixed hereto, this the 22nd day of January, 1996. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />Norman L.
