Lashutka <br />President <br />Subject.: Amendments to the NLC Bylaws <br />At its July 14-15, 1995, meeting in Atlanta, the NLC, Board of <br />Directors accepted the report of a special Bylaws Committee which <br />recommended one amendment to the NLC Bylaws. The Bylaws <br />Committee, which was initially appointed in March 1993 by then- <br />NLC President Donald M. Fraser, was asked in January 1995 by <br />then-NLC. President Carolyn Long Banks to reconvene to review <br />procedures for election. of NLC officers and for filling <br />leadership vacancies. The committee was chaired by Past <br />President Bob Bolen, former mayor of Fort Worth, Texas. <br />This package includes specific language to amend the Bylaws, a <br />ballot which suet be returned. to NLC headctuarters by Aprl_26~ <br />1996, and a postage paid reply envelope to return your ballot by <br />the deadline. Ballots may also be returned by fax at <br />(202) 626-3143. However, if you return your ballot by fax, <br />please do not mail the ballot. <br />The proposed Bylaws Amendment is as follows: <br />Amend Section 6 of Article III to modify and clarify the process <br />for filling leadership vacancies.
