The permit is requested for the construction of a 61 unit senior citizen assisted <br />living center to be located in the 8700-8800 block of Fairmont Parkway. <br /> <br />The March 21, Commission hearing constituted the first phase of the SCU review and <br />approval process. Several citizen comments in opposition were received. During the <br />Hearing, the SCU Permit process and conditions were explained which included <br />requirements for the Intra-District PUD process, which limits type, size and use. After <br />staff's and the developer's report, many concerns were addressed and the Planning <br />and Zoning Commission recommended a favorable consideration. <br /> <br />The final phase will be the April 22, Public Hearing conducted by City Council. After <br />closing the hearing, Council will consider approval of the SCU Permit. <br /> <br />In preparation for this City Council Public Hearing, staff has satisfied all public notice <br />requirements, including a mailout to the owners of all properties located within 200 <br />feet of the tract in question. A total of 52 notices were mailed. As of April 16, the <br />date on which this agenda request is being prepared, no replies have been received, <br />either in favor or against the request. If any replies are received, they will be provided <br />to Council at the April 22, Public Hearing. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br />The Planning and Zoning Commission, by unanimous vote, has recommended approval <br />of SCU96-001, subject to the specified conditions including requirements for an Intra- <br />Staff concurs with this <br /> <br />District PUD, which limits type, size, and use. <br />recommendation. <br />Action Required by Council: <br />1 .
