CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING THE ADDITION OF THREE <br />PERSONNEL TO THE EMS DMSION - R. T. Herrera <br /> <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera reviewed the summary and recommendation for the request for three <br />additional paramedic personnel in the EMS Division. Mr. Herrera asked that Council appropriate <br />approximately $32,000 for the remainder of the current fiscal year from the General Fund contingency <br />account to fund this request. He stated, "This would insure that the level of service our citizens are <br />currently receiving is adequate, improved, and better as time goes on". <br /> <br />Mayor Malone read a letter, see Exhibit A, from Councilperson Porter who was unable to attend the <br />meeting tonight due to an out-of-state business meeting. Mr. Porter's letter stated, as member of the audit <br />committee, he is in support of the recommendation and would like to encourage other Councilmembers to <br />support the recommendation. Mr. Herrera stated, "As a result of this effort to improve our services, I <br />would like to have a Workshop with the City Council perhaps on May 13th to address some of the EMS <br />policies concerning one, Municipal Aide agreement with neighboring communities, and also issues dealing <br />with transportation". <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Maxwell to approve the request for three additionall'ersonnel to the <br />EMS Division. Second by Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 7 ayes, and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke, and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />13. CONSIDER AWARDING A BID FOR INSECTICIDES AND FAIRWAY FERTILIZERS TO GOLD <br />KIST, AND HERBICIDES, FUNGICIDES, GREENS GRADE FERTILIZER, AND OTHER <br />PRODUCTS TO TERRA INTERNATIONAL - A. Osmond <br /> <br />Golf Course Superintendent Dennis Hlavaty reviewed the recommendation for awarding the bid. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person Clarke to award the bid as presented bv Mr. Hlavaty. Second by <br />Council person Thrower. The motion carried, 7 ayes, and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke, and Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />14. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS <br /> <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera reminded Council this weekend is Sylvan Beach Day. The Council is <br />invited to participate in the festivities. You have been asked to meet at the Fitness Center at 8:30. If you <br />are not planning to attend the festivities, please notify Sue Lenes or Carol Buttler. Mayor Malone <br />reminded Council that each had contributed $20.00 last year for candy to be distributed during the parade <br />and asked that this be done again this year. Councilperson Maxwell recommended Councilperson <br />Sutherland be in charge of this project. Councilperson Sutherland agreed to the suggestion. <br />
