• <br />Office of the Mayor <br /> <br />~~ <br />®l~Pretts ~ Emergency Medical Services is a vital public service and <br />access to quality emergency care which dramatically improves <br />the survival rate of those who experience sudden illness or <br />injury; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams consist of emergency <br />physicians, emergency nurses, emergency medical technicians, paramedics, educators, administrators, and <br />others; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams are ready to provide <br />lifesaving care to those in need twenty four hours a day, seven days a week; and <br />WHEREAS, the members of emergency medical services teams engage in thousands <br />of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills and the people of <br />La Porte, Texas, benefit daily from the knowledge and skills of these highly trained individuals; and <br />WHEREAS, injury prevention and appropriate use of the EMS system will help reduce <br />national health care costs; and <br />WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the value and accomplishments of emergency <br />medical services providers 6y designating Emergency Medical Services Week. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, NORMAN L. MALONE, MAYOR of the City of <br />La Porte, in recognition of this event, do hereby proclaim the week of May 19-25, 1996, as <br />EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES WEEK <br />in the City of La Porte, and encourage the community to observe this week with appropriate programs, <br />ceremonies, and activities. <br />IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Seal of the <br />City to be a,~'ixed hereto, this the 20th day of May, 1996. <br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />or an L.
