<br />16. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE VACATING,
<br />ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF NORTH "P" STREET
<br />(Ord. 96-2121) - J. Armstrong
<br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong reviewed items 9 through 16 regarding the summary and
<br />recommendation for vacating, abandoning, and closing a portion of North 12th, 13th, 14th, 16th, North
<br />"H", North "J", North "L", North "P" Streets. Mr. Armstrong reported the number of days Southern
<br />Pacific Transportation Company shall have will be extended from 14 to 30 days from the effective date of
<br />these ordinances to deliver the executed Special Warranty Deeds and Drainage Easement.
<br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCES 96-2114, 96-2115, 96-2116, 96-2117, 96-2118, 96-2119,
<br />96-2120, AND 96-2121- AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION
<br />OF NORTH 12th STREET, NORTH 13th STREET, NORTH 14th Street, NORTH 16th STREET,
<br />NORTH "H" STREET, NORTH "J" STREET, NORTH "L" STREET, AND NORTH "P" STREET,
<br />WITH THE PROVISION THAT THE CITY OF LA PORTE RESERVE EASEMENTS FOR ITSELF
<br />AND FOR ITS FRANCHISE UTILITIES IN 16th STREET, "H" STREET AND "P" STREET, IN THE
<br />TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN
<br />MEETING LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF.
<br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve Ordinance 96-2114, 96-2115, 96-2116, 96-2117,
<br />96-2118, 96-2119, 96-2120, and 96-2121 as read by the Assistant City Attorney. Second by
<br />Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes and 0 nay.
<br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and Mayor Malone
<br />Nays: None
<br />17. ADMINISTRATIVE REPORTS
<br />Director of Finance\ACM Jeff Litchfield indicated there were no administrative reports to be presented to
<br />Council at this time.
<br />18. COUNCIL ACTION
<br />Councilperson Sutherland reminded Council about the Flag Pole dedication at the Livestock Arena on July
<br />1st at 4:30 P.M. Councilpersons Cooper, Porter, Gay, Clarke and Mayor Malone brought items to
<br />Council's attention.
