Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried, 8 ayes, and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilperson Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />10. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE IMPOSING A <br />TEMPORARY MORATORIUM ON THE ISSUANCE OF ZONING PERMITS FOR ADULT <br />ORIENTED BUSINESSES (Ord. 96-2131) - G. Rankin <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera reviewed the summary and recommendation for the request to approve <br />an ordinance establishing a moratorium on sexually oriented businesses in the City of La Porte. Mr. <br />Herrera and Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong answered questions and concerns from Council. <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 96-2131 - AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE, TEXAS, IMPOSING A TEMPORARY MORATORIUM ON THE ISSUANCE OF ZONING <br />PERMITS FOR ADULT ORIENTED BUSINESSES, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; <br />PROVIDING FOR THE EXPIRATION OF THE MORATORIUM; PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson McLaughlin to approve Ordinance 96-2131 as read by the Assistant <br />City Attorney, Second by Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 8 ayes, and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />11. CONSIDER AWARDING A BID FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TRIPLE COMBINATION PUMPER <br />(1500 GPM FIRE APPARATUS) TO WILSON FIRE APPARATUS AND EQUIPMENT WITH KME <br />FIRE APPARATUS AS THE BUILDER - J. Sease <br />Fire Chief Joe Sease reviewed the summary and recommendation for the request to award a bid for a <br />Triple Combination Pumper to Wilson Fire Apparatus and Equipment, bidding a unit built by KME Fire <br />Apparatus, in the amount of $211,224.00. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to award a bid for a Triple Combination Pumper to Wilson <br />Fire Apparatus and Equipment Company. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried, 8 ayes, <br />and 0 nays. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, and Mayor <br />Malone <br />Nays: None <br />
