<br />• <br />MINUTES OF THE PUBLIC HEARING AND REGULAR MEETING OF <br />LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />AUGUST 26, 1996 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman L. Malone at 6:00 P.M. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman L. Malone, Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, <br />Mike Cooper, Bob Thrower, Bob McLaughlin, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Jack Maxwell and <br />Jerry Clazke <br />Members of Council Absent: None <br />Members of City Staff and City Employees Present: Assistant City Manager John Joerns, City <br />Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Sue Lenes, Director of Finance/ACM Jeff Litchfield, <br />Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Director of Planning Guy Rankin, Police Chief <br />Bobby Powell, Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander, Purchasing Agent Susan Kelley, <br />Chief Building Official Art Flores, Inspector Debbie Wilmore <br />Others Present: Mr. Carlton Porter, representing Houston Lighting and Power Company and <br />several La Porte citizens <br />2. INVOCATION BY REV. DAVID COCHRAN - LA PORTE WORSHIP CENTER <br />In the absence of Rev. David Cochran the invocation was given by Mayor Malone. <br />3. CONSIDER APPROVING MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING AUGUST 12, 1996 <br />Council considered approving minutes of Regular Meeting August 12, 1996. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Cooper to approve the minutes of August 12 as presented. <br />Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried, 7 ayes, 0 nays, and 1 abstain. <br />(Councilperson Porter was away from the table for the vote.) <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Gay, Maxwell, and <br />Mayor Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Councilperson Clarke <br />4. PRESENTATION: <br />EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER -APRIL, MAY, AND JUNE <br />Mayor Malone reported Debbie Wilmore, Inspector II, has been selected as the "Employee of <br />the Quarter" for the months of April, May, and June and read a dossier of Ms. Wilmore's <br />accomplishments. Director of Planning Guy Rankin presented Ms. Wilmore with a plaque to <br />commemorate her selection. <br />
