City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 96-06 - A RESOLUTION BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT REQUEST TO THE STATE OF TEXAS, TEXAS TRAFFIC SAFETY PROGRAM GRANT, ACTING BY AND THROUGH THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR FUNDING TO THE CITY OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE PROJECT TITLED "SAFE AND SOBER WAVE". Motion was made by Councilperson McLau hlin to approve Resolution 96-06 as read by the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Maxwell. The motion carried, 8 ayes, and 1 nay. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke, and Mayor Malone Nays: Councilperson Cooper 9. CONSIDER APPOINTING A VOTING DELEGATE AND AN ALTERNATE VOTING DELEGATE TO NATIONAL LEAGUE OF CITIES ANNUAL CONGRESS OF CITIES BUSINESS MEETING - R. T. Herrera Assistant City Manager John Joerns reviewed the summary for the request to Council for an appointment of a City of La Porte Councilperson as a voting delegate and an alternate voting delegate to the National League of Cities Conference to be held in San Antonio, Texas, December 7-10, 1996. Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to appoint Councilperson Gav as the Voting Delegate and Councilperson Maxwell as the Alternate Voting Delegate to the NLC Conference. Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried, 9 ayes, and 0 nays. Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Cooper, Thrower, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke, and Mayor Malone Nays: None 10. CONSIDER AWARDING A BID FOR THE FURNISHING OF ANNUAL WATER AND SEWER SUPPLIES TO INDUSTRIAL INTERNATIONAL, INC.; GOLDEN TRIANGLE PII'E, INC.; MDN ENTERPRISES; AND TO SENSUS TECHNOLOGIES - S. Kelley Purchasing Agent Susan Kelley reviewed the summary and recommendations for the request. Ms. Kelley reported a typographical error on Item #6. The Company name is Rohan, the type of meter is Sensus.
