. , Minutes Public Hearing And Regular Meeting La Porte City Council November 11, 1996, Page 5 PUBLIC INPUT Mr. Steve Valerius, 140 Hazel, La Porte, spoke as representative for the "Old Highway 146 Committee". He asked members of that committee to stand in order that Council might see their representation regarding their opposition to this ordinance change and rezoning. Mr. Valerius stated the committee's support of the Planning & Zoning Commission's recommendation to deny the request to rezone the property to General Commercial. RECOMMENDATION OF PLANNING AND ZONING Mayor Malone read the recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Commission, by unanimous vote, has recommended denial of Rezone Request R96-OO5. Staff concurs with the Commission's recommendation. CLOSE PUBLIC HEARING Mayor Malone closed the public hearing at 6:50 P.M. 10. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1501, BY CHANGING CLASSIFICATIONS OF A PORTION OF LAND KNOWN AS TRACTS 17B, 17D AND 17E, CRESCENT VIEW FROM mGH DENSITY RESIDENTIAL (R-3) TO GENERAL COMMERCIAL (G. C.) (Ord. 1501-W) - G. Rankin Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1501-W - ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1501, MORE COMMONLY REFERRED TO AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY CHANGING CLASSIFICATION OF THAT CERTAIN PARCEL OF LAND HEREIN DESCRIBED; MAKING CERTAIN FINDINGS OF FACf RELATED TO THE SUBJECf; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Counciloerson McLau~hlin to DENY the Dassal!e of Ordinance 1501-Was read by the Assistant City Attornev. Second by Councilperson Thrower. The motion carried, 9 ayes, 0 nays. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 94-1976, WIllCH GOVERNS THE RENTAL FEE POLICY AND SCHEDULE FOR THE LA PORTE LIVESTOCKlRODEO ARENA (Ord. 96-1976-A) - S. Barr Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr reviewed the summary and recommendation for the request to amend this ordinance governing the rental fee policy and schedule for the La Porte Livestock/Rodeo Arena. Council discussed the changes and clarifications of the changes reported by Mr. Barr.
