RETIREE RECOGNITION - JOHN PROMISE <br /> <br />Mayor Malone read a dossier of Mr. Promise's employment with the City. City Manager <br />Robert T. Herrera and Director of Public Works Steve Gillett presented Mr. Promise with <br />watch from the City of La Porte and congratulated him on his decision to retire. Mr. Promise <br />thanked the Mayor, Steve Gillette and the City of La Porte employees for a wonderful 14 years <br />of employment. <br /> <br />B. EMPLOYEE OF THE QUARTER - OCTOBER, NOVEMBER, DECEMBER 1996 <br /> <br />Mayor Malone recognized Jon Klingen, Sr. Parks Maintenance Worker, as the "Employee of <br />the Quarter" for the months of October, November, and December 1996, and read Mr. <br />Klingen's dossier. The Director of Parks and Recreation Stephen Barr presented Mr. Klingen <br />with a plaque. Mr. Klingen thanked the City for the plaque and stated, "It has been a pleasure <br />to work for the City of La Porte" . <br /> <br />5. PROCLAMATIONS: <br /> <br />A. AMERICAN RED CROSS MONTH - META WALTERS AND RHONDA GUINN <br /> <br />Mayor Malone proclaimed the month of March as the American Red Cross month and <br />presented a proclamation to Meta Walters and Rbonda Guinn. <br /> <br />B. PUBLIC SCHOOL WEEK <br /> <br />Mayor Malone proclaimed the week of March 2 through 8 as Texas Public Schools Week and <br />presented a proclamation to Cleo Davison, Dr. Barney IIes, Mary McDermott-Jackson, Charles <br />Wilder, and Beth Rickert. Ms. Beth Rickert thanked the City for its support. <br /> <br />C. POISON PREVENTION WEEK <br /> <br />Mayor Malone proclaimed the week of March 16 through 22 as Poison Prevention Week. A <br />representative from the Poison Control Center was unavailable to accept the proclamation. <br /> <br />6. PETlTIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CmZENS AND TAX <br />PAYERS WISlDNG TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br /> <br />Spero Pomonis, 218 Bay Colony Circle, La Porte, addressed Council regarding the Board of <br />Adjustment meeting scheduled for Thursday February 27, 1997. Mr. Pomonis asked the City <br />Council to attend the scheduled meeting because he feels the zoning ordinances of the City of <br />La Porte have been violated. <br />
