<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Minutes Regular Meeting <br />La Porte City Council <br />June 23, 1997, Page 5 <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A <br />CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND DA VID WIGHT <br />CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF WATERLINE <br />REPLACEMENTS; APPROPRIATING NOT TO EXCEED $216,260.20 TO FUND SAID <br />CONTRACT; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person Clarke to approve an Ordinance 97-2184 as read by the <br />Assistant City Attorney. Seconded by Councilperson Ebow. The motion carried, 8 ayes, 0 <br />nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Council persons Engelken, Ebow, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, Maxwell, Clarke and <br />Mayor Pro-Tern Sutherland <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />10. CONSIDER AUTHORIZING THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION TO <br />REVIEW CURRENT SIGN REGULATIONS AND PROVIDE A RECOMMENDATION <br />TO CITY COUNCIL REGARDING THE USE, THE PLACEMENT, AND THE <br />PERMIITING OF TEMPORARY ADVERTISING SIGNS, ON WEEKENDS, WITIDN <br />THE CITY OF LA PORTE. RETURN WITH A RECOMMENDATION WITHIN 3 <br />MONTHS - R. Herrera <br /> <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera addressed Council requesting guidance on the issue of <br />temporary advertising signs. Mr. Herrera stated that his impression after visiting with Mayor <br />Malone and Council that this issue should be sent back to the Planning and Zoning <br />Commission with direction from Council. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person Clarke to direct the City Manal!er to draft a letter to the <br />Planning and Zoning Commission authorizing them to research the sil!n ordinance. Seconded <br />by Council person Porter. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING A RESOLUTION TO <br />AUTHORIZE A CHANGE IN SIGNATURES FOR TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION LICENSE PLATES (Res. 97-04) - R. Yockov <br /> <br />Acting City Secretary Rhonda Yockov reviewed the summary and recommendation for Council <br />to approve a resolution authorizing the positions of City Secretary and Assistant City Secretary to sign <br />for Special License Plates through the Texas Department of Transportation. <br />
