CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN <br />ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND ALLOWING, UNDER THE ACT <br />GOVERNING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, <br />PROBATIONARY RESTRICTED PRIOR SERVICE CREDITS (Ord, 97- <br />2202) L. Rigby <br /> <br />Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby presented summary and <br />recommendation requesting City Council to approve Ordinance 97-2202, Mr. <br />Rigby reported that prior to 1985, employees hired by the City were required to <br />wait 90 days before becoming eligible to participate in the Texas Municipal <br />Retirement System, The City employs 83 people who were hired before that <br />date and have service which has not been counted towards their retirement. <br />This Ordinance would enable employees to get credit for the 90 day period. <br />There is no cost to the employee, and the total cost to the City per year would <br />be $9,600, <br /> <br />City Attorney Knox Askins read: ORDINANCE 97-2202 - AN ORDINANCE <br />GRANTING TO CITY EMPLOYEES ADDITIONAL RIGHTS AND <br />CREDITS IN THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM AS <br />AUTHORIZED BY SECTION 853.303, TITLE 8, OF THE GOVERNMENT <br />CODE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF, <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Ebow to approve Ordinance 97-2202 as <br />read by City Attorney, Second by Councilperson Engelken, The motion <br />carried, 9 ayes, 0 nays. <br /> <br />6. CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTHER ACTION REGARDING AN <br />ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE 1000-1 BY ADDING A NEW <br />LICENSE HOLDER AT AN AREA WHERE WINE AND/OR BEER FOR <br />CONSUMPTION ON THE PREMISES MA Y BE SOLD; PROVIDING <br />THAT ALL OTHER PROVISIONS OF ORDINANCE 1000-1 REMAIN <br />UNCHANGED - (Ord. WOO-I-B) G. Rankin <br /> <br />Planning Director Guy Rankin presented Summary and recommendation <br />requesting City Council approve Ord, 1000-I-B. This Ordinance would add a <br />new license holder with the business name Blondie's Steakhouse. This <br />establishment is located at 1026 S, gd" La Porte, Texas 77571. <br /> <br />Mr, Rankin addressed Council questions. <br />
