Minutzs January 12, 1998 <br />Page 2 <br />Ayes:: Councilpersorls Sutherland, Engelken, McLaughlin, Porter, Gay, <br />Maxvvell, Clarke; and Mayor Norman Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND <br />CITIZENS AND TAX PAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL <br />Mr. Chris Comperry, 729 Otter Creek, La Porte, Texas was introduced to the <br />City Council and presented a City of La Porte lapel pin. Mr. Comperry was <br />attencling the Council meeting in order to earn a Boy Scout badge. <br />Mr. Dennis Dunham, 816 S. 1"`, La Porte, Texas addressed Council regarding <br />the proposed Graffiti Ordinance. Mr: Dunham requested Council to take their <br />time and use caution in considering the proposed Ordinance. Mr. Dunham <br />raised. concerns regarding the impact it may have on area businesses. <br />M.r. >:ten Ritchie, 435 Shady Lane, addressed Council regarding Ordinance 1501 <br />and a~9vised he had addressed Council on previous occasions about this same <br />matter. Mr. Ritchie advised Council that Ordinance 1501 rezoned his business <br />from commercial to residential ten years ago. Mr. Ritchie stated he was never <br />notift:d of this change. Mr. Ritchie informed Council he is not able to sell his <br />business due to the constraints this Ordinance places him under. He requested <br />Council to give him special consideration regarding this matter and allow him to <br />further discuss this matter with Planning and Zoning and City Council. He <br />further stated he believes his constitutional rights have been violated. <br />Mr. Pete Frank, 4142 Crownwood, Seabrook, Texas, thanked the City for their <br />involvement with the Habitat for Humanity projects over the past five years. In <br />addition; he presented Golf Pro Alex Osmond with a plaque for his recent <br />effort:> coordinating a fund raiser Golf Tournament. Mr. Frank noted $7,000.00 <br />was mused at this recent event. <br />~,. . <br />Mr. Steve Valarius, 140 Hazel, is Porte, Texas addressed Council on the <br />proposed G:rafitti--Ordinance. Mr. Valarius advised Council the Old 146 Group <br />supported the proposed changes to the;'proposed: Grafitti Ordinance. Mr. <br />Valarius further stated the Old 146 committee believes this Ordinance will assist <br />in preventing vandalism and clean up the City. <br />ii M <br />5.
