CONSIDER APPROVAL OR OTIlER ACTION REGARDING AN <br />ORDINANCE DECLARING TIlE RESULTS OF THE RUN-OFF <br />ELECTION HELD ON MAY 30, 1998 (Ord. 98-2238) K. Askins <br /> <br />City Attorney Knox Askins read: ORDINANCE 98-2238 - AN ORDINANCE <br />DECLARING THE RESULTS OF THE RUNOFF ELECTION HELD IN THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE ON MAY 30, 1998, FOR THE ELECTION OF A <br />COUNCILPERSON-A T -LARGE-POSITION A; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Porter to ap'prove this Ordinance as <br />presented. Second by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried, 7 ayes, 0 <br />nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Engelken, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and <br />Mayor Malone. <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />6. ADMINISTERING THE OATH OF OFFICE FOR NEW <br />COUNCILPERSON - Mayor Malone <br /> <br />Mayor Malone administered the Oath of Office to Councilperson At Large <br />Position A, Peter Griffiths. <br /> <br />7.
