<br />"QUEST FOR CITY COUNCIL AGENIITEM <br />Agenda Date Requested: 6/22/98 <br />Requested By: Doua Kneupper ~ Department: Plannina <br />Report Resolution X Ordinance <br /> <br />Exhibits: <br />1. <br />2. <br />3. <br /> <br />Ordinance <br />Exhibit "A" <br />Exhibit liB" - Letter from L.P.I.S.D. <br /> <br />SUMMARY & RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />The City of La Porte has been petitioned by La Porte Independent School District to <br />close, vacate, and abandon a portion of the alley in Block 87, Town of La Porte (see <br />Exhibit "A"). The purpose of this request is to facilitate the District's current plans for <br />construction of a new alternative school in Block 87, Town of La Porte. The Planning <br />and Public Works Departments have reviewed this request and have determined the <br />need to relocate an existing 8" sanitary sewer line located within the aforementioned <br />alley. District representatives have subsequently received approval of plans for the <br />relocation of the existing sanitary sewer line for which construction is currently <br />underway. Additionally, District representatives have coordinated with each of the <br />City's franchised utility companies to arrange for abandonment and/or relocation of <br />existing franchised utilities. <br /> <br />In accordance with Article II, Section 62-35 of the Code of Ordinances, the District is <br />exempted from the payment of fair market value fees for the closing, vacating, and <br />abandoning of the alley. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends closing, vacating, and abandoning a portion of the alley in Block 87, <br />Town of La Porte as shown on Exhibit "A" attached hereto. <br /> <br />Action Required by Council: <br /> <br />Consider approval of an ordinance to close, vacate, and abandon the alley in Block 87, <br />Town of La Porte. <br /> <br />Availability of Funds: NIA <br />G~neral Fund <br />Capital Improvement <br />Other <br /> <br />WaterlWastewater <br />General Revenue Sharing <br /> <br />Account Number: <br />- ..~- <br /> <br />Funds Available: <br /> <br />YES <br /> <br />NO <br /> <br />ADDroved for City Council Aaenda <br /> <br />Gi~ T. ~ <br /> <br />Robert T.
