CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman L. Malone at 6:05 p.m. <br /> <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Norman L. Malone, Council persons Guy <br />Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, Howard Ebow, Peter Griffiths, AIton Porter, Deotis Gay, <br />Charlie Young and Jerry Clarke. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: None <br /> <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Robert <br />T. Herrera, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Assistant City ManagerlFinance <br />Director Jeff Litchfield, City Attorney Knox Askins, City Secretary Martha Gillett, <br />Communications Technician n Janis Goulder, Director of Public Works Steve Gillett, <br />Planning Director Doug Kneupper, Chief of Police Bobby Powell, Director of <br />Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander, <br />Cash Manger Rick Overgaard, Tax Assessor Kathy Powell and Office Manager <br />Marlene Rigby. <br /> <br />Others Present: Spero Pomonis, Jan Lawler, Colleen Hicks, Patty Welborn, Mr. <br />Johnson, George Ann Spears, Jackie Welch, Melissa Harrison and a number of La <br />Porte Citizens. <br /> <br />2. INVOCATION - REVEREND ALAN NEEL - LIFE COMMUNITY CHURCH <br /> <br />Reverend Alan Neel was not able to attend the meeting, so Mayor Malone delivered the <br />Invocation. <br /> <br />3. CONSIDER APPROVING MINUTES OF SPECIAL CALLED REGUIJAR <br />MEETING ON JUNE 22, 1998. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person En~elken to ap,prove the minutes of June 22. 1998 <br />meetinl! as presented. Second by Councilperson Sutherland. The motion carried, 9 <br />ayes and 0 nays. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br /> <br />4.
