Council considered an Ordinance approving and authorizing a Contract between the <br />City of La Porte and Hugh L. LandNm & Associates, Inc. for Appraisal and other <br />services for properties located in the City's Industrial Districts; Appropriating $40,400 <br />Annually to Fund Said Contract. <br /> <br />Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander presented the summary and <br />recommendation information and answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 98-2294 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AN <br />AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND <br />HUGH L. LANDRUM & ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR APPRAISAL AND OTHER <br />SERVICES FOR PROPERTIES LOCATED IN THE CITY'S INDUSTRIAL <br />DISTRICTS; APPROPRIATING $40,400 ANNUALLY TO FUND SAID <br />CONTRACT FOR CALENDAR YEARS 1999,2000, AND 2001; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson to Youn2 to aoorove Ordinance 98-2294 as read by <br />the City Attorney. Second by Councilperson Engelken. Council considered an Ordinance approving and authorizing a Notice to Governing <br />Bodies of Harris County, Texas, La Porte Independent School District, San Jacinto <br />Junior College District, Port of Houston Authority, Harris County Hospital District, <br />and Harris County Flood Control District Regarding the City's consideration of a <br />Contiguous Geographic Area within the City of La Porte, Texas; requesting a waiver of <br />the 6O-Day Notice; Establishing a date for a Public Hearing on the Creation of <br />Proposed Reinvestment Zone Number One, City of La Porte, Texas; authorizing and <br />directing other Actions Preliminary to the Creation of the proposed Reinvestment Zone <br />Number One, City of La Porte, Texas <br /> <br />City Manager Robert T. Herrera presented the summary and recommendation <br />information and answered Council's questions. Mr. Herrera introduced Glen Opal of <br />Vinson & Elkins, Barry Bone and Dan McAuliffe, of TXI all three addressed Council <br />concerning the City's Creation of a proposed reinvestment zone. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson to En2elken to ;wprove Ordinance 98-2295 as <br />presented. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried unanimously. <br />
