Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the 15% penalty to be added to <br />delinquent taxes to defray the costs of collecting such taxes. <br /> <br />Assistant Finance Director Cynthia Alexander presented summary and recommendation. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 99-2364 AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING <br />FOR A PENAL 1Y TO DEFRAY COSTS OF COLLECTING DELINQUENT <br />PROPERTY TAXES PURSUANT TO TEXAS TAX CODE, SECTION 33.07 AND <br />33.08. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Ebow to approve the ordinance as presented by Ms. <br />Alexander Second by Councilperson Engelken. Council considered approving an ordinance amending Chapter 34, Environment, Article <br />V. Junked Motor Vehicles, Section 34-166, Definitions, and Section 34-168, location or <br />presence within city deemed public nuisance. <br /> <br />Director of Planning Doug Kneupper presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered questions for City Council. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 1387-B AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 34, ENVIRONMENT, ARTICLE V. JUNKED MOTOR VEHICLES, <br />SECTION 34-166, DEFINITIONS, AND SECTION 34-168, LOCATION OR <br />PRESENCE WITHIN CITY DEEMED PUBLIC NUISANCE; EXCEPTIONS; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING FOR A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Griffiths to approve the ordinance as presented bv <br />Mr. Kneupper.
