<br />e <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />City Council Minutes - October 25, 1999 - Page 3 <br /> <br />City Secretary Martha Gillett presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />questions for City Council. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE IOOO-I-F AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY <br />OF LA PORTE, TEXAS, AMENDING CHAPTER 6, SECTION 6-78 OF THE CODE <br />OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE, BY ADDING AN AREA AT A <br />RESTAURANT WHERE WINE AND lOR BEER FOR CONSUMPTION ON THE <br />PREMISES MAY BE SOLD; FURTHER PROVIDING A SAVINGS CLAUSE; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Motion was made bv Councilperson Gav to approve the ordinance as presented by Ms. <br />Gillett. Second by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke, and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />9. Council considered approving an ordinance vacating, abandoning and closing a portion of <br />the alley in block 718, Town of La Porte, Harris County, Texas. <br /> <br />Director of Planning Doug Kneupper presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered questions for City Council. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 99-2365 AN ORDINANCE VACATING, <br />ABANDONING AND CLOSING A PORTION OF THE ALLEY IN BLOCK 718, <br />TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Council person Engelken to approve the ordinance as oresented by <br />Mr. Kneupper. Second by Councilperson Gay. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke, and Mayor <br />Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />10. CONSENT AGENDA <br />A. Consider awarding contract to H-GAC for purchase of plastic garbage bags- <br />Steve Gillett <br />B. Consider awarding bid to Philpott Ford for purchase of new and replacement <br />vehicles - Steve Gillett <br /> <br />Councilperson Griffiths made a motion to vote on both Consent Agenda items together <br />and approve items presented. Seconded by Councilperson Porter. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />
