8ffice of <br />the*Mayor <br />ton <br />solid waste go into Texas <br />y be recyclable aria <br />WHEREAS, In order to keep recycling working by purchasing req)cled products, a <br />steering committee of more than one hun&vd members from business, government, schools and <br />organizations have organized TEXAS RECYCLES DAY, and these groups are encouraging their <br />employees and all citizens to pledge to recycle and buy recycled products; and <br />WHEREAS, Participating in TEXAS RECYCLES DAY is one way the citizens of the <br />City of La Porte can help the CLEAN TEXAS 2000 Pollution Prevention Program, of the Texas <br />Natural Resource Conservation Commission accomplish its goal to reduce solid waste by 50 percent <br />by the year 2000, and <br />WHEREAS, Recycling saves millions of dollars creates jobs, is recognized as the <br />first and easiest wary for Texans to get involved with taking cam? of Texas, and saves a great amount of <br />important resources; and <br />WHEREAS, Community leaders need to spread the word about the programs <br />established the growth of markets for recyclables, the importance of buying recycled products, the <br />need to expand the collection of recyclable materials, and the benefits of investments in recycling by <br />small and large businesses <br />NOW, THEREFORE, I, NORMANL MALONE, MAYOR of the City of La Porte, do <br />hereby designate Saturday, November 20, 1999, as <br />LA PORTS RECYCLES DAY. <br />IN WITNESS THEREOF,1 have set my hand and caused the Seal of the <br />City to be affixed hereto, this the 8th day ofNovember, 1999. <br />CITYOFLA PORTS <br />Norman L Malone, Mayor <br />
