• • <br />City Council Minutes -February 14, 2000 -Page 2 <br />B. Assistant City Manager/Finance Director Jeff Litchfield presented the CAFR for <br />September 30, 1999 to City Council. Mr. Litchfield introduced the auditors - <br />Amanda Eaves and Patsy Waldrop. <br />6. Operations Manager Juan Hinojosa with Goodyear briefed the City Council on the <br />incident which occurred on January 13, 2000. <br />7. Council considered approving a resolution of intent to remain a class member in the class <br />action City of Wharton, et al. v. Houston Lighting & Power Company. <br />City Attorney Knox Askins presented summary and recommendation. <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2000-06 - A RESOLUTION OF INTENT TO <br />REMAIN A CLASS MEMBER IN THE CLASS ACTION CITY OF WHARTON, ET <br />AL. V. HOUSTON LIGHTING & POWER COMPANY; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Ebow to approve the resolution as presented by Mr. <br />Askins Second by Councilperson Clarke. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Ebow, Porter, Gay, Young Clarke and Mayor Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Engelken (Councilperson Engelken left the council table for this item.) <br />8. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing a contract to provide Emergency <br />Medical Services to the Port of Houston. <br />Fire Chief Joe Sease presented summary and recommendation. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2000-2376 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND <br />PORT OF HOUSTON AUTHORITY OF HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, FOR <br />PROVISION OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES TO THE PORT OF <br />HOUSTON AUTHORITY; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS <br />RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN <br />MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Sutherland to approve the ordinance as presented by <br />Mr. Sease. Council considered approving an ordinance vacating, abandoning and closing the alley of <br />Block 132, Town of La Porte, Harris County Texas. <br />Director of Planning Doug Kneupper presented summary and recommendation. <br />
