CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Members ofCitv Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken, <br />Peter Griffiths, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, and Norman <br />Malone. <br /> <br />Members of Council Absent: Ebow <br /> <br />Members of City Executive .Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Robert T. <br />Herrera, City Attorney Knox Askins, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Director of <br />Public Works Steve Gillett, City Secretary Martha Gillett, Finance Director Cynthia <br />Alexander, Assistant Finance Director Mike Dolby, Director of Parks and Recreation <br />Stephen Barr, Director of Emergency Management Joe Sease, Director of Administrative <br />Services Louis Rigby, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, Police Chief Richard <br />Reff, Purchasing Manager Susan Kelley, Golf Course Superintendent Dennis Hlavaty. <br /> <br />Others Present: John Nicholson, Sib Carpenter and a number of citizens. <br /> <br />2. Reverend Stan Jordan from Bayshore Baptist Church delivered the Invocation. <br /> <br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting and Special Called <br />Workshop Meeting on June 12,2000. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve the minutes ofthe Regular <br />MeetiDl! and Special Called Workshop Meeting of June 12.2000 as presented. Second <br />by Councilperson Griffiths. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, and Clarke. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: Malone <br /> <br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND <br />TAXPAYERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL. <br /> <br />There were no citizens wishing to address City Council. <br /> <br />5. Council considered approving an ordinance granting a permit under Section l8-a-3 of <br />Ordinance no. 915, "Pipeline Transportation", being Chapter 18-a of the Code of <br />Ordinances of the City of La Porte, Texas, dated November 25, 1975, to construct a 12- <br />inch pipe line for the transportation of ethane, propane and ethylene and authorize City <br />Manager to execute an easement document with Lavaca Pipeline Company. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Steve GilIett presented summary and recommendation. <br />
