Council considered authorizing an extension of the water service agreement between the <br />City of La Porte and Akzo Nobel chemicals Inc., for a term beginning June 12, 2000 and <br />expiring December 31, 2007. <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2000-2555 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING AN EXTENSION OF THE WATER SEWER AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND AKZO NOBEL CHEMICALS INC., FOR <br />A TERM BEGINNING JUNE 12, 2000, AND EXPIRING DECEMBER 31, 2007; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE <br />SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Clarke to approve Ordinance 2000-2555 as <br />presented b~Mr. Gillett. Second by Councilperson Ebow. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Gay, Young, Clarke, and Malone. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />19. Council considered amending 1875, an ordinance authorizing and allowing, under the act <br />governing the Texas Municipal Retirement System, "Updating Service Credits" in said <br />system. <br />Director of Administrative Service Louis Rigby presented summary and recommendation <br />and answered Council's questions. <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2000-1875-H - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />ORDINANCE 1875, AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING AND ALLOWING, UNDER <br />THE ACT GOVERNING THE TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM, <br />"UPDATING SERVICE CREDITS" IN SAID SYSTEM FOR SERVICE PERFORMED <br />BY QUALIFYING MEMBERS OF SUCH SYSTEM WHO PRESENTLY ARE IN THE <br />EMPLOYMENT OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS <br />AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE <br />WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve 2000-1875-H as presented by <br />Mr. Ri~by.
