YES NO <br />SUACKARY & RECOMMENDATION <br />The La Porte Police Department has been a member of the multi- jurisdictional Harris County Organized Crime and <br />Narcotic Task Force since it became a Texas Narcotic Control Program in 1990. This Task Force is funded yearly <br />by grant funds issued by the Texas Narcotic Control Program. The Task Force is applying for a $3,577,000.00 grant <br />for the next grant year, which is June 2001 to May 2002. <br />The City of La Porte has been and desires to continue to participate in the Task Force by assigning a Sergeant and <br />Investigator to the Task Force. The grant provides for reimbursement of these officer's salaries at $97?980.00 with <br />the balance of their salaries serving as the City's match which is $32,660.00 <br />The Task Force has proven to be an affective tool in coordinating enforcement activities against narcotic trafficking. <br />Additionally, they have and will continue to provide personnel and technical support to the La Porte Police <br />Departments narcotic investigations. <br />Action Required by Council: Request authorization for the City Manager to sign the resolution and grant <br />agreement to continue participation in the HCOCNTF. <br />Approved for City Council Agenda <br />(3,4"t i Neu- vz s-vo <br />Robert T.
