<br />City Council Minutes -Page 3 <br />Place awalking/bicycle trail down Old 146 for safety reasons. <br />Take a more active role in opposing the Port of Houston. <br />Gideon Jones - 10403 Quiet Hill, La Porte, Texas 77571 - Mr. Jones <br />informed City Council he is opposed to the extension of Farrington <br />Boulevard. <br />5. The public hearing regarding the draft Comprehensive Plan update was called <br />to order at 6:45 P.M. <br />Planning Director Doug Kneupper gave staff review of the update. <br />Public Input -Bill Scott - Mr. Scott informed City Council he is opposed to <br />the Farrington Boulevard Extension and provided City Council with a <br />handout. He asked member in the audience to stand if they were opposed to <br />the extension of Farrington Boulevard. Several members of the audience <br />stood in opposition of the extension. <br />Recommendation of the Planning and Zoning Commission was presented by <br />Planning Director Doug Kneupper. The Planning and Zoning Commission <br />recommends City Council adopt the Master Comprehensive Plan Update. <br />The public hearing was adjourned at 6:50 P.M. <br />6. Council considered an ordinance to close, vacate, and abandon the alley in <br />Block 752, Town of LaPorte (Ord. 2001-2461). <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-2461 - AN ORDINANCE <br />VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEY IN BLOCK <br />752, TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Griffiths to table Ordinance 2000-2461. <br />Second by Councilperson Engelken. The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Councilpersons Sutherland, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Gay, Young, <br />and Clarke <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: <br />Council member Gay left the meeting at 7:10 P.M. <br />
