<br />AND PUBLIC HEARING
<br />OF LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL
<br />MARCH 19, 2001

<br />1. CALL TO ORDER
<br />
<br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Norman Malone at 6:00 p.m
<br />
<br />Members of City Council Present: Councilpersons Guy Sutherland, Chuck Engelken,
<br />Howard Ebow, Alton Porter, Deotis Gay, Charlie Young, Jerry Clarke, and Norman
<br />Malone.
<br />
<br />Members of Council Absent: Peter Griffiths.
<br />
<br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Robert T.
<br />Herrera, Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong, Assistant City Manager John Joerns,
<br />City Secretary Martha Gillett, Finance Director Cynthia Alexander, Assistant Finance
<br />Director Mike Dolby, Director of Administrative Services Louis Rigby, Public Works
<br />Director Steve Gillett, Emergency Services Director Joe Sease, Planning Director Doug
<br />Kneupper, Police Chief Richard Reff, and Lieutenant Carl Crisp.

<br />Others Present: Spero Pomonis, Colleen Hicks, Bill Love, Martha Love, Bob Pizzatola,
<br />Linda Barley, Susan Parastar, Evelyn Kennedy, Kathleen France, David Turnquist, Jim
<br />France, Joe Peraza, Larry McGrath, Gideon Jones, Jan Jones, Larry Meek, Robb Hinn,
<br />Reverend Mary Currie and a number of citizens.

<br />2. Reverend, Mary Currie of St. James Presbyterian delivered the invocation.
<br />
<br />3. Council considered approving the minutes of the Regular Meeting on February 26,2001.
<br />
<br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve the minutes of the Regular
<br />Meeting on February 26.2001 as presented. Second by Councilperson Clarke. The
<br />motion carried.
<br />
<br />Ayes: Sutherland, Engelken, Porter, Young, Clarke and Malone.
<br />Nays: None
<br />Abstain: Ebow, Gay and Mayor Malone.
<br />
<br />4. PETITIONS, REMONSTRANCES, COMMUNICATIONS, AND CITIZENS AND
<br />T AXP A YERS WISHING TO ADDRESS COUNCIL.
<br />
<br />The following citizens addressed City Council:
<br />
<br />Linda Barley and Bob Pizzatola - Neighborhood Center - 911 South 8th Street, La Porte,
<br />Texas 77571. They addressed Council and thanked them for supporting Neighborhood
<br />Centers and informed them of their building plans and needs. In addition, Ms. Barley
<br />provided Council with a report on the various projects they worked on this past year.
