0 • <br />ORDINANCE NO. 2001-2460-B <br />AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A MEMBER TO THE RE -DISTRICTING COMMITTEE, <br />AND ESTABLISHING ITS POWERS AND DUTIES; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE <br />OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE: <br />Section 1. The City Council of the City of La Porte hereby <br />appoints the following resident of the City of La Porte to the Re - <br />Districting Committee, to -wit: <br />District 4: Jesse L. Wilson <br />Section 2. Following publication of the 2000 Federal <br />Census, the Re -Districting Committee shall conduct an investigation <br />and determine the population of the City, and the population of <br />each of the districts from which district Councilpersons are <br />elected. Each such determination shall be based upon the best <br />available data, including, but not limited to, the 2000 Federal <br />Census. Each such determination shall be reported by the Re - <br />Districting Committee to City Council, which shall express the <br />results of such determination in an ordinance, which shall be a <br />final determination for purposes of the Home Rule Charter of the <br />City of La Porte. After any such determination, if the <br />distribution of population among the various districts is <br />determined by City Council to be materially unbalanced, the Re - <br />Districting Committee shall, following public notice and an <br />opportunity for public input, recommend to City Council the <br />establishment of new boundaries for the election of district <br />Councilpersons. <br />Section 3. The City Council officially finds, determines, <br />recites, and declares that a sufficient written notice of the date, <br />hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was <br />
