e e Council Minutes 7-23-01- Page 3 Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-2499 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF A LAW ENFORCEMENT SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE LA PORTE INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT, MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve Ordinances 2001-2499 presented by ChiefReff. Second by Councilperson Ebow. The motion carried. Ayes: Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Warren, Young, Clarke, and Malone. Nays: None Abstain: None. 9. Council considered approving an ordinance approving to vacate, abandon, and close the alleys in Blocks 328 & 329, and North 2nd Street Right-of-Way, and to also authorize execution of a Street & Alley Closing Agreement with the applicant. Planning Director Doug Kneupper presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2001-2500 - AN ORDINANCE VACATING, ABANDONING AND CLOSING THE ALLEYS IN BLOCKS 328 AND 329, TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, AND A PORTION OF THE RIGHT -OF-WAY OF NORTH 2ND STREET, TOWN OF LA PORTE, HARRIS COUNTY TEXAS, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. Motion was made by Councilperson Warren to table item until next meeting as presented by Mr. Kneupper. Second by Councilperson Griffiths. The motion carried. Ayes: Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Porter, Warren, Young, Clarke, and Malone. Nays: None Abstain: None 10. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a Special Warranty Deed and coordinate the exchange of property with Charlie Hinds.
