This tank was last coated in 1991. The paint system has performed well, and the <br />Engineer recommends recoating before the paint system begins to fail. <br />Dunham Engineering has designed the proposed improvements, and sealed bids were received on December 17, <br />2001 from four (4) contractors. Low bid was submitted by Gulf States Coatings, Inc. of La Porte in the amount of <br />$50,600. A total of 75,000 was budgeted for this Project. <br />As illustrated by the attached bid tabulation, the bids ranged from a high of $96,772 to the low bid. Low bidder was <br />checked by the Engineer for past work experience, safety experience and references. Gulf States Coatings, Inc. has <br />successfully completed projects for the Engineer, and is recommended by the Engineer for bid award. <br />A total of $69,000 is available in the Project budget for construction. It is recommended that the contract be <br />awarded to Gulf States Coatings, Inc. in the amount of $50,600. A contingency of $5,060 is also recommended. <br />Action Required by Council: Approve an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract <br />with Gulf States Coatings, Inc. in the amount of $50,600, with a contingency of $5,060. <br />Approved for City Council Agenda <br />Robert T.
