The purpose of this public hearing is to receive comments from the public as well as Council regarding the plan. If approved, the Plan will be submitted to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department so that the City may apply for future grant applications for park improvements. The Plan must be submitted to the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department by May 31, 2002, to be eligible for the upcoming grant cycle. The Plan will be an additional tool to be used in conjunction with the Comprehensive Plan Update, the Northside Plan, etc., to guide the City's planning efforts through the next several years. The staff at Halff and Associates have worked diligently to produce a good, comprehensive view of where we are, and where we should direct our future efforts in the area of parks and recreation facilities and opportunities to meet the needs of our citizens. Mr. Chip Perry of Halff & Associates is present tonight to make a summary presentation of the Plan and answer any questions Council may have. Staff has identified some additional corrections to the final draft that are included in your Council packets, which will be reviewed after Mr. Perry makes his summary report. Action Required by Council: Receive a summary report from Mr. Chip Perry of Halff Associates regarding the La Porte Park and Open Space Master Plan. Consider public input regarding the Plan.
