<br />City Council Minutes 5-7-02 - Page 2 <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2002-2551 - AN ORDINANCE DECLARING THE <br />RESULTS OF THE ELECTION HELD IN THE CITY OF LA PORTE ON MAY 4, <br />2002, FOR THE ELECTION OF COUNCILPERSON AT LARGE, POSITION B; <br />COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 1; AND COUNCILPERSON DISTRICT 6; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve declaring the results of the <br />election held in the City of La Porte on May 4. 2002 as presented by Knox Askins. <br />Second by Councilperson Porter. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Engelken, Griffiths, Warren, Young, Sutherland, Ebow, Porter and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />7. Mayor Norman Malone administered the Oath of Office to Councilpersons Meismer and <br />Mosteit. <br /> <br />8. Council considered approval of a resolution declaring intention to reimburse certain <br />expenditures with borrowing proceeds. <br /> <br />City Manager Robert Herrera presented summary and recommendation and answered <br />Council's questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: RESOLUTION 2002-25 - RESOLUTION DECLARING <br />INTENTION TO REIMBURSE CERTAIN EXPENDITURES WITH BORROWING <br />PROCEEDS. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilperson Engelken to approve a resolution declaring intention <br />to reimburse certain expenditures with borrowing proceeds as presented by Mr. Herrera. <br />Second by Councilperson Ebow. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Engelken, Griffiths, Warren, Young, Meismer, Ebow, Porter and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />9. Council considered approval or other action regarding an ordinance appointing a member <br />of the City Council to serve as Mayor Pro-Tern of the City of La Porte, for the period of <br />May 8, 2002 through May 8, 2003. <br /> <br />Mayor Norman Malone presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. <br /> <br />City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2002-2552 - AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING A <br />MEMBER OF THE CITY COUNCIL TO SERVE AS MAYOR PRO- TEM OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE, FOR THE PERIOD MAY 8, 2002 THROUGH MAY 8, 2003; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />
