<br />. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />City Council Minutes 6-10-02 - Page 3 <br /> <br />Alton Porter of 10442 Catlett Lane, La Porte, Texas, spoke in favor of the Import-Export <br />Park. <br /> <br />Wanda Glover was not present to speak, but she had signed-up to speak. <br /> <br />6. Open Public Hearing - Mayor opened the Public Hearing at 7:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Review by Staff - Director of Planning Doug Kneupper presented summary and <br />recommendation and answered questions regarding an ordinance authorizing a special <br />conditional use permit - discuss special conditional use permit to construct Phase I - <br />convenience store with automobile/truck fueling. <br /> <br />Public Input <br /> <br />Paul Larson of 406 N. 4th Street, La Porte, Texas, stated he had not received notification of <br />this item and is opposed to this project. He is concerned with who will be policing special <br />conditional use permit. <br /> <br />Bill Scott of 1802 Lomax School Road, La Porte, Texas, is in opposition of the <br />convenience store with automobile/truck fueling. He stated the project includes six diesel- <br />fueling bays. <br /> <br />J. W. Copeland of 10227 Carlow, La Porte, Texas, spoke in opposition of the convenience <br />store / fueling facility. <br /> <br />Art Kelley of 215 Hazel, La Porte, Texas, is concerned about erosion of zoning standards. <br />He feels the City should be consistent and hold to their standards. <br /> <br />Guy Rankin pointed out that people could be opposed and in favor of the project, most <br />concerns seem to be the truck fueling. <br /> <br />Henrietta Allen of 1718 Roscoe, La Porte, Texas, spoke in favor ofthe project. <br /> <br />Betty Pfeiffer of 10823 Linwood, La Porte, Texas spoke in favor ofthe project. <br /> <br />Don McCartney of Houston, Texas, spoke highly of his employer Mr. Narsi, the <br />Developer of this project. <br /> <br />The Planning and Zoning Staff recommended disapproval of Special Conditional Use <br />Permit #SCU02-001, or overrule the Commission's recommendation and approve <br />#SCU02-00 1. <br /> <br />Mayor Malone closed the Public Hearing at 7:35 p.m. <br /> <br />7. Council considered disapproval or other action regarding an ordinance authorizing Special <br />Conditional Use Permit #SCU02-001. <br /> <br />Director of Planning Doug Kneupper presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br />
