Council considered approval of an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a <br />contract with Horseshoe Construction, Inc. in the amount of$127,182.00 and authorize a <br />contingency of $6,360.00. <br /> <br />Director of Public Works Steve Gillett presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong: ORDINANCE 2002-2565 - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPROVING AND AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE AND HORSESHOE CONSTRUCTION, INC., FOR FARRINGTON <br />BOULEY ARD TRUNK SEWER IMPROVEMENTS; APPROPRIATING $127,182.00 <br />PLUS A CONTINGENCY OF $6,360.00, TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; MAKING <br />VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE <br />DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Engelken to approve the ordinance as presented bv <br />Mr. Gillett. Second by Councilmember Ebow. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Beasley, Meismer, Mosteit, Engelken, Ebow, Warren, Young and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />13. Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Council considered agenda as follows: <br /> <br />Award Bid #860 - Chemicals and Fertilizer - Sections 1 and 3 to Estes Inc.; Sections 2 <br />and 6 to Vopak-Houston PPS; Sections 4 and 5 to Helena Chemical. <br /> <br />Award Bid #852 - Police Uniforms and Body Armor - to Direct Action Uniforms. <br /> <br />Award Bid #859 - Hot Mix Asphalt - to Martin Marietta Materials. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Young to approve Consent Agenda.
