9 s
The Applications for Exemption are Conflicting
The property owner has filed two conflicting applications for exemption of the property
with the Harris County Appraisal District. The first application was filed on June 30, 2000 and
stated that 80% of the land is used of the residence. The first application for exemption was
denied because of use by the appraisal district. On January 30, 2002 a second application was
filed with the appraisal district. In the second application stated that approximately 10% of the
land is used of the residence. The applications filed in 2000 and 2002 are in direct conflict with
each other on the issue of the use of the property, and as such bring into question the actual use
of the property.
The Property is Zoned "Rl" for Single Family Residence
The property is bay front property located in one of the most affluent subdivisions in the
City of LaPorte. The property is a single-family residency with an appraised value of
$189,330.00. The property is zoned "Rl" which only allows the property to be used for the
purpose of residential single family occupancy. Therefore, it appears that the property is not
being used for the purposes that would qualify it for a religious or charitable exemption.
RECEIVED
MAY 3 1 2002
HARRIS CO APPRAISAL DIST.
JURISDICTION SUPPORT DIVISION
