For Council's reference, a comparison chart is included as <br />Exhibit "A". <br />Chapter 172 would allow the City to maintain its current method of operating the Employee <br />Health Services Fund, but would stipulate additional legal requirements. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />The City Attorney and City staff recommend adopting Chapter 172 for statutory authority to <br />operate the Employee Health Services Fund. <br />Previously, City staff, the City Manager, the City Attorney, and a representative from the City's <br />health benefits consultant participated in a conference call with TML legal counsel concerning <br />Chapter 172 provisions and possible impact on the City's health fund. <br />After further consultation, the City Attorney and City staff agree that protections offered by <br />Chapter 172 far outweigh any disadvantages that would occur for implementation. <br />Action Required by Council: <br />Approve an ordinance adopting Chapter 172 of the Texas Local Government Code. <br />Approved -for Citv Council Agenda <br />John erns, A <br />4i Manager <br />} G0 <br />Date( <br />
