Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute a contract <br />with Brooks Concrete, Inc. in the amount of $50,000 for annual sidewalk replacement. <br />Director of Planning, Doug Kneupper, presented the summary and answered Council's <br />questions. <br />City Manager Debra Feazelle questioned, if Council approves $50,000 to start the sidewalk <br />replacement, and plans to have additional funds ($10,855.50) to have the remaining sufficient <br />wheelchair ramps, revising the total cost to $60,855.50. <br />The City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2003-2621 - AN ORDINANCE APPROVING AND <br />AUTHORIZING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND BROOKS <br />CONCRETE, INC. FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 2003 CITY-WIDE SIDEWALK <br />IMPROVEMENT PROJECT; APPROPRIATING $60,855.50 TO FUND SAID CONTRACT; <br />MAKING VARIOUS FINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Griffiths to approve Ordinance 2003-2621 as presented by <br />Mr. Kneupper, with agreement to amend cost to 60,855.50. Second by Councilmember Ebow. <br />The motion carried. <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Engelken, Ebow, Griffiths, Beasley, Warren, Young and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Griffiths to approve Ordinance 2003-2621 as amended by <br />Council. Doug Kneupper asked Council to consider awarding bid for GIS software and related items. <br />Stephen Ban asked Council to consider awarding bid for lifeguard services. <br />Joe Sease asked Council to consider awarding bid for firefighter protective clothing. <br />Joe Sease asked Council to consider awarding bid for EMS medical supplies. <br />Steve Gillett asked Council to consider awarding bid for automatic vacuum chlorination system. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Warren to approve all as presented.
