<br />City Council Meeting -Ie 9, 2003 Page 6 <br /> <br />e <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2003-2630 - AN ORDINANCE RE- <br />APPOINTING A JUDGE AND AN ALTERNATE JUDGE OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE <br />MUNICIPAL COURT, PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE, CONTAINING A <br />REPEALING CLAUSE, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW, <br />CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Emzelken to aooroye Ordinance 2003-2630 as <br />oresented by Mayor Malone. Second by Councilmember Young. The motion carried. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Griffiths, Young, Engelken, Beasley, Warren, Meismer, Ebow and Malone <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />17. Council to consider approving an ordinance amendment to Chapter 70 by adding Article <br />vm Public Parking of Vehicles for Sale Prohibited. <br /> <br />Police Chief Richard Reffread summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2003-2638 - AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />CHAPTER 70 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE BY <br />ADDING A NEW ARTICLE, BEING ARTICLE VllI, PARKING OF VEHICLES FOR <br />SALE IN UNAUTHORIZED LOCATIONS PROHIBITED; PROVIDING FOR CERTAIN <br />EXCEPTIONS; PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THIS <br />ORDINANCE SHALL BE DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON <br />CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED IN A SUM NOT TO EXCEED FIVE HUNDRED <br />DOLLARS ($500.00); FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE <br />HEREOF. <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Beasley to aoorove Ordinance 2003-2638 as oresented <br />by Chief Reff. Second by Councilmember Ebow. Council considered approving an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute an <br />Advance Funding Agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation, Safe Routes to <br />School Program for a bicycle/pedestrian pathway along S. Broadway (Business SH 146 and <br />SH Spur 501) from Fairmont Parkway southward to Fairfield Street. <br /> <br />Director of Parks and Recreation, Stephen Barr, read the summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney read: ORDINANCE 2003-2639 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING AND APPROVING AN ADVANCE FUNDING AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY OF LA PORTE AND THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION FOR A SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL PROJECT AWARD, <br />PREPARATION AND CONSTRUCTION OF A BICYCLEIPEDESTRIAN P ATHW A Y <br />
