Council to consider authorizing the adoption of the C3 codes and other noted code books. <br />Building Official Debbie Wilmore gave summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. <br />Staff made one change from the previous meeting, reviewing the local electrical code as a <br />separate issue. The international residential code and the international energy conservation code <br />are both state mandated items, these were reviewed at the previous meeting. The national <br />electrical code (NEC) was reviewed; staff currently uses the NEC, and would like to adopt the <br />2002 edition. New items being considered and incorporated into our adoption ordinance; <br />building construction and safety code NFPA 5000 (2003 edition), the National Fuel Gas Code <br />(2002 edition), Uniform Plumbing Code (2000) and Uniform Mechanical Code (2000 edition). <br />Those will be incorporated in to the Ordinance. <br />Basically there are 3 amendments proposed under the National Electrical Code (2002 edition), <br />these are existing amendments with the previous NEC; however, they have been updated to <br />reflect the change in the new amendments. Under the amendment 82:342 of the Code of <br />Ordinances, flexible conduit and PVC conduit for optional wiring in buildings, previously not <br />listed in Code of Ordinances, added for additional options to the contractor. NEC Section 82:345 <br />update with new code edition, table reference that the section of the code has changed, flexible <br />conduit and PVC conduit was added for additional option to contractors. The final change to <br />2002 edition is 82:349, update only, deletion of a reference to Electrical Board, which was <br />eliminated by Council several years ago. <br />There was discussion among Council regarding items 12, 13 and 14. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Meismer to reject Item 12 as presented'by Ms. Wilmore. <br />Second by Councilmember Griffiths. Second by Councilmember Warren.
