The C3 codes are user oriented in that contractors, builders <br />and crafts can interpret the codes to their benefit. <br />5. the ICC codes are much more comprehensive than the C3 codes. <br />The C3 codes are designed 'for the builders, contractors and <br />craftsmen, by the builders, contractors and craftsmen, rather <br />than the design professional who will be designing commercial <br />buildings to these codes. The ICC codes reference their code <br />sections to the standards of construction, ie: <br />American Institute of Steel.Construction <br />American Concrete Institute <br />American Water Works Association <br />American Society for Testing Materials <br />American National Standard Institute <br />Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. <br />To name a few. <br />6. Codes are rules, regulations and specifications written by <br />professionals, ie: Engineers, Architects, etc. to protect the <br />public health and well being. Codes become law when adopted by <br />a city, municipality, village, water district, county and/or <br />state. <br />7. Codes are used by design professionals to design building, <br />homes, etc., and are enforced by the city adopting these codes. <br />Contractors, builders and crafts adhere to these codes already <br />designed into the building or home they are constructing.. <br />Contractor, builders and crafts do not interpret codes, and do <br />not need to have a detailed knowledge of the codes to be able <br />to perform their work and adhere to the building plans. <br />8. The State of Texas has mandated that all construction in the <br />State adhere to the National Electrical Code.
