Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance authorizing the City Manager to execute <br />the attached Quit Claim Deed to Mr. Emery Farkas for a tract of land out of Lots 17- 24, Block 120, Town of <br />La Porte being further described in Exhibit "A" to said deed. <br />Interim Planning Director Nick Finan presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions regarding. <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong read: ORDINANCE 2004 2699 - AN ORDINANCE <br />AUTHORIZING THE EXECTUTION OF A QUIT CLAIM DEED TO EMERY FARKAS, <br />INDIVIDUALLY AND AS TRUSTEE OF A PORTION OF LOTS 17 THROUGH 24, BOTH INCLUSIVE, <br />BLOCK 120, TOWN OF LA PORTE , HARRIS COUNTY, TEXAS, FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW, AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Engelken to approve Ordinance 2004-2699 as presented by Mr. Finan. <br />Second by Councilmember Griffiths. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance amending the current dangerous building <br />regulations. <br />Interim Planning Director Nick Finan presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's <br />questions. <br />Assistant City Attorney John Armstrong read: ORDINANCE 2003-2700 — AN ORDINANCE AMENDING <br />SECTIONS 82-471 THRU 82-482 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; <br />PROVIDING NEW REGULATIONS REGARDING DANGEROUS BUILDINGS; CONTAINING A <br />SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; <br />PROVIDING THAT ANY PERSON VIOLATING THE TERMS OF THE ORDINANCE SHALL BE <br />DEEMED GUILTY OF A MISDEMEANOR AND UPON CONVICTION SHALL BE FINED A SUM OF <br />NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($2,000.00) FOR EACH VIOLATION; AND <br />PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Beasley to approve Ordinance 2004-2699 as presented by Mr Finan. <br />Second by Councilmember Peter Griffiths. Chairman Engelken and Committee Members Griffiths and Beasley presented a report regarding the Audit <br />Committee. Mr. Engelken stated there was a lengthy discussion regarding delinquent tax renewals, with the <br />delinquent tax attorney providing delinquent tax information. <br />The contract for the collection of mowing, demolition buildings and graffiti removal was discussed and <br />approved. There is about $288,000 outstanding to be collected, the percentage would be 15% of monies <br />collected. <br />
