r <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING <br />OF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />March 8, 2004 <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Pro Tem Peter E. Griffiths at 6:00 p.m. <br />Members of City Council Present: Councilmembers Chuck Engelken, Howard Ebow, Charlie Young, Barry <br />Beasley, Mike Mosteit, Mayor Pro Tem Peter Griffiths and Bruce Meismer <br />Members of Council Absent: Mayor Norman L. Reverend Wayne Spears of Fairmont Park Baptist Church delivered the invocation. Mayor Pro Tem Griffiths <br />requested a moment of silence in honor of recently deceased Councilmember James Warren. <br />3. Mayor Pro Tem Griffiths led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />4. PRESENTATIONS/PROCLAMATIONS <br />A. Mayor Pro Tem Griffiths presented City Attorney Knox Askins with a Certificate of Appreciation for 39 <br />devoted and invaluable years of service rendered to the City of La Porte. <br />B. Municipal Court Judge Denise Mitrano was not able to attend the meeting, but will be in attendance to <br />receive the recognition at the March 22, 2004 City Council Meeting. <br />C. Mayor Pro Tem Griffiths recognized Carl Rise as the "Employee of the 4,` Quarter of <br />2003". <br />D. Mayor Pro Tem Griffiths recognized Paula Bradstreet as the "Employee of the Year <br />2003". <br />E. Mayor Pro Tem Griffiths recognized Brian Sterling and Richard Spicer as the <br />"Employee of the Year 2002". <br />F. Mayor Pro Tem Griffiths recognized Karen Beerman as the "Manager of the Year <br />2003". <br />5. CONSENT AGENDA <br />A. Council to consider awarding bids for Specialized Equipment as recommended by Staff with the <br />acceptance of the Optional Trade-ins offered. <br />
