Finance Department <br /> <br />Assistant Finance Director Michael Dolby provided City Council with an overview of <br />Finance's departmental requests. <br /> <br />Council requested to know how many people pay on line. <br /> <br />Council requested the cost of using debit cards. <br /> <br />Council requested Finance to try and reduce their training budgets in the same manner as <br />other departments. . <br /> <br />Council requested the Utility Billing division to research new technology on reading meters. <br />They suggested they contact the City of Galveston. <br /> <br />K. Planning Department <br /> <br />Planner Wayne Sabo provided City Council with an overview of Planning's departmental <br />requests. <br /> <br />The planning department reduced its training and seminars budget. <br /> <br />Council suggested the position of Planning Director be reviewed for the upcoming budget <br />year. City Manager Debra Feazelle noted she had a meeting with Mr. Sabo to discuss options <br />for the department. <br /> <br />Council requested to know the process on collecting mowing fees. <br /> <br />Council requested .to know the number of open records requests. City Secretary Martha <br />Gillett to provide open records log. <br /> <br />Building Official Debbie Wilmore offered to reduce the planning review line item by 50%. <br /> <br />Tommy Moser requested a report on mowing of ditches. <br /> <br />The meeting was recessed for a break at 8:27 and reconvened at 8:38. Budget Recap <br /> <br />City Manager Debra Feazelle provided City Council with an overview of the budget recap. <br /> <br />Mayor Porter noted that one of the major goals of this workshop was to save the positions <br />being eliminated in the budget. <br />
