City Council Regular Meeting, Public Hearing and Workshop Meeting — October 24, 2005 Page 5 <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Griffiths to approve the amendment to various operating budgets_ for <br />outstanding purchase orders as presented. Second by Councilmember Moser. The motion carried unanimously. <br />Ayes: Porter, Griffiths, Beasley, Ebow, Mosteit, Moser, Rigby and Clausen. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />15. Close Regular Meeting and Open Workshop at 7:35 p.m. <br />A. Assistant Police Chief Aaron Corrales provided an overview of the motor assisted scooter ordinance and <br />Council provided staff with direction to bring back an ordinance at a future Council meeting addressing <br />motor assisted scooters in the City of La Porte. The ordinance needs to be stringent not allowing the <br />scooters on City sidewalks/paths and needs to have a driver age requirement of at least 16 years old. <br />Council advised staff when ordinance is adopted they want extensive media coverage to ensure the public <br />is made aware of new ordinance. <br />B. Richard Reff discussed speed limit signs. Mayor Porter noted Chuck Engelken requested Mayor note for <br />the record he was in favor of changing speed limits in selected areas of the City. There are concerns with <br />some subdivisions in District 2. Council directed staff to come back with options considering costs of <br />each option. <br />C. Richard Reff provided a report on DOT scales weight limitation and tickets activity. <br />16. Closed Workshop meeting and reconvened Regular Meeting at 8:31 p.m. <br />17. Administrative Reports <br />City Manager Debra Feazelle reminded council of the Texas Municipal League Conference, October 26 — 29, <br />2005, in Grapevine Texas, Fire Station 2 Masonic Cornerstone Ceremony, November 12, 2005, Appreciation <br />Dinner, November 14, 2005, at Evelyn Kennedy Center, at 4:00 p.m., Thanksgiving Holiday Observed, <br />November 24 — 25, 2005 and discussed the November & December City Council Meetings. <br />18. Council Comments <br />Ebow, Mosteit, Clausen, Rigby, Moser, Beasley, Griffiths and Mayor Porter had comments. <br />19.
