<br />CITY OF LA PORTE <br />RESOLUTION 2006-lL <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE APPROVING SUBMITTAL OF TWO <br />NOMINATIONS TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION, <br />STATE~DE TRANSPORTATION ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM, 2006 CAL~ <br />MAKING VARIOUS fINDINGS AND PROVISIONS RELATING TO THE SUBJECT; <br />FINDING COMPUANCE ~H THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte, Texas desires to submit 2 applications: 1) La <br />Porte's Main Street Connection, and 2) Sylvan Beach Railway Depot and Period Beach <br />House Restoration, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the enhancement programs proposed will be beneficial to both <br />residents and travelers through the City of La Porte by improving the aesthetics, <br />increasing tourism appeal, providing for restoration and preservation of our heritage <br />and history, and providing educational opportunities for both young and old, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte desires to establish its commitment to pledge <br />the 200/0 match and 1000/0 of any costs over the approved funding levels to be set forth <br />in a forthcoming Advance Funding Agreement with the Texas Department of <br />Transportation, in accordance with the Statewide Transportation Enhancement Program <br />guidelines if awarded, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of La Porte commits to the project's development, <br />implementation, construction, maintenance, and financing, should the projects be <br />approved; <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF LA PORTE; that the City Manager is authorized to execute all documents <br />necessary for the submission of the two nominations designated herein. <br /> <br />The City Council offiCially finds, determines, recites and declares that a sufficient written <br />notice of the date, hour, place and subject of this meeting of the City Council was posted <br />at a place convenient to the public at the City Hall of the dty for the time required by law <br />preceding this meeting, as required by the Open Meetings Law, Chapter 551, Texas <br />Government Code; and that this meeting has been open to the public as required by law <br />at all times during which this ordinance and the subject matter thereof has been <br />discussed, considered and formally acted upon. The City Council further ratifies, approves <br />and confirms such written notice and the contents and posting thereof. <br /> <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
