MINUTES OF REGULAR MEETING AND PUBLIC HEARING <br />OF THE LA PORTE CITY COUNCIL <br />July 10, 2006 <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order by Mayor Alton Porter at 6:00 p.m. <br />Members of City Council Present: Mayor Alton Porter, Council members Tommy Moser, <br />Mike Mosteit, Barry Beasley, Chuck Engelken, Howard Ebow, Mike Clausen and <br />Councilmember Louis Rigby. <br />Members of Council Absent: Peter Griffiths. <br />Members of City Executive Staff and City Employees Present: City Manager Debra <br />Feazelle, Assistant City Manager John Joerns, Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins, Public <br />Works Director Steve Gillett, City Secretary Martha Gillett, Assistant City Secretary Sharon <br />Harris, Fire Chief Mike Boaze, Planning Director Wayne Sabo, Assistant to the City <br />Manager Crystal Scott, Fire Marshal Cliff Meekins, EMS Supervisor Gary Griffin, Assistant <br />Fire Chief Champ Dunham, Inspector Mike Kirkwood, Temporary Inspector Cindy Griffis, <br />Building Official Debbie Wilmore and Chief Police Richard Reff. <br />Others Present: B.L. Worsham, Sue Gail Kooken, Jack Oliphant, and other citizens. <br />2. B.L. Worsham of Second Baptist Church of La Porte delivered the Invocation. <br />3. Mayor Porter led the Pledge of Allegiance. <br />4. PRESENTATIONS / PROCLAMATIONS <br />There were no presentations or proclamations presented at the meeting. <br />5. Consent Agenda <br />A. Consider approving Minutes of the Regular Meeting of City Council held <br />on June 26, 2006. <br />B. Council to consider approval or other action regarding awarding a bid PE2 and PE4 <br />Aggregate for Surface Treatment in the amount of $42,504.00 and contingency not <br />to exceed budgeted funds of $45,000.00. <br />C. Council to consider approval or other action regarding awarding a bid for police <br />uniforms and body armor in the amount not to exceed $40,640.00. <br />D. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance amending <br />Chapter 42 of Appendix B-Fines, of the Code of Ordinances, setting a fine of $500 <br />for each violation of Sex Offender Residency. <br />E. Council to consider approval or other action approving and authorizing proposed <br />rate increase of 3.5% for collection of containerized commercial solid waste by <br />AlliedBFI Waste Services of Texas. <br />
