City Council Regular and Workshop Meeting -September 25,2006 Page 4 Motion was made by Councilmember Moser to table ordinance 2781-C as presented bv Mr. Swanagan. Second by Councilmember Rigbv. The motion carried. In addition to the tabled item being brought back to a future meeting, the following items need to be brought back as well: "Council requested staff to bring back calculations not increasing retirees insurance and to bring back the Calculations for employees, over 65 and under 65." In addition, staff needs to bring back estimates for increasing premiums to new employees and define new employee. Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Rigby, Clausen, Ebow and Mayor. Nays: None Abstain: None 10. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance appointing members to various Boards, Commissions, and adopt the ordinance of choice regarding the Zoning Board of Adjustment Chairman.. Mayor Porter presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: Ordinance 2004-2782-N - AN ORDINANCE APPOINTING MEMBERS TO VARIOUS BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND COMMITTEES, OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY CLAUSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. There was no action taken. Council directed staff to place on next agenda. 11. Councilman Engelken Chairman of the La Porte Development Corporation Board provided a report to City Council. Councilmember Engelken advised council the La Porte Development Corporation Board will meet again on October 9,2006. He further reported they discussed the 06-07 budget, economic development positions, future projects and received an update on sales taxes. 12. Councilman Beasley Chairman of the Ad Hoc Meet and Confer Law Review Committee provided a report to City Council. Councilman Beasley advised council a petition is being sent to officers to be signed in support of Meet and Confer. 13. Mayor Pro-Tern Moser provided a report to City Council on the Barbous Cut Meeting with Harris County. Councilman Moser reported the county is going to escalate the construction of this project. 14. Close Regular Meeting and Open Workshop at 6:50 p.m. A. Purchasing Manager Susan Kelley discussed purchase of Electricity.
