<br />City Council Regular and Workshop Meeting -September 25,2006 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Motion was made by Councilmember Moser to table ordinance 2781-C as presented bv Mr. <br />Swanagan. Second by Councilmember Rigbv. The motion carried. <br /> <br />In addition to the tabled item being brought back to a future meeting, the following items <br />need to be brought back as well: <br /> <br />"Council requested staff to bring back calculations not increasing retirees insurance and to <br />bring back the Calculations for employees, over 65 and under 65." <br /> <br />In addition, staff needs to bring back estimates for increasing premiums to new employees <br />and define new employee. <br /> <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Rigby, Clausen, Ebow and Mayor. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br /> <br />10. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance appointing members to <br />various Boards, Commissions, and adopt the ordinance of choice regarding the Zoning <br />Board of Adjustment Chairman.. <br /> <br />Mayor Porter presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. <br /> <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: Ordinance 2004-2782-N - AN ORDINANCE <br />APPOINTING MEMBERS TO VARIOUS BOARDS, COMMISSIONS, AND <br />COMMITTEES, OF THE CITY OF LA PORTE; PROVIDING A SEVERABILITY <br />CLAUSE; CONTAINING A REPEALING CLAUSE; FINDING COMPLIANCE WITH <br />THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br /> <br />There was no action taken. Council directed staff to place on next agenda. <br /> <br />11. Councilman Engelken Chairman of the La Porte Development Corporation Board provided a <br />report to City Council. <br /> <br />Councilmember Engelken advised council the La Porte Development Corporation Board <br />will meet again on October 9,2006. He further reported they discussed the 06-07 budget, <br />economic development positions, future projects and received an update on sales taxes. <br /> <br />12. Councilman Beasley Chairman of the Ad Hoc Meet and Confer Law Review Committee <br />provided a report to City Council. <br /> <br />Councilman Beasley advised council a petition is being sent to officers to be signed in <br />support of Meet and Confer. <br /> <br />13. Mayor Pro-Tern Moser provided a report to City Council on the Barbous Cut Meeting with <br />Harris County. <br /> <br />Councilman Moser reported the county is going to escalate the construction of this project. <br /> <br />14. Close Regular Meeting and Open Workshop at 6:50 p.m. <br /> <br />A. Purchasing Manager Susan Kelley discussed purchase of Electricity. <br />
