City Council Regular Meeting, Workshop Meeting and Public Hearing —October 23, 2006 <br />Page 9 <br />Mr. Swanagan explained there is an amount subsided by the city and an employee looses <br />that amount among retirement. <br />Councilman Beasley requested Staff to bring back the Methodology and clear break down of <br />facts, figures and how numbers are calculated for Council to have a clear understanding. <br />Motion was made by Council member Beasley to table this item and bring back as a <br />workshop item with all possibilities. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance amending Fiscal Year <br />2006-07 Budget for the Grant Fund for the Homeland Security Grant award of $347,732,00. <br />Assistant Finance Director Michael Dolby presented summary and recommendation and <br />answered Council's questions. <br />Assistant City Attorney Clark Askins read: ORDINANCE 2006-2918-A -AN <br />ORDINANCE APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE BUDGET FOR THE CITY OF LA <br />PORTE, TEXAS, FOR THE PERIOD OF OCTOBER 1, 2006 THROUGH SEPTEMBER <br />30, 2007; FINDING THAT ALL THINGS REQUISITE AND NECESSARY HAVE BEEN <br />DONE IN PREPARATION AND PRESENTMENT OF SAID BUDGET; FINDING <br />COMPLIANCE WITH THE OPEN MEETINGS LAW; AND PROVIDING AN <br />EFFECTIVE DATE HEREOF. <br />Motion was made by Council member Moser to_pprove Ordinance 2918-A as presented by <br />Mr. Dolby. Second by Collllcll member Ebow. The motion carried <br />Ayes: Mosteit, Moser, Beasley, Engelken, Rigby, Ebow, Clausen, Griffiths and Mayor. <br />Nays: None <br />Abstain: None <br />13. Council to consider approval or other action regarding an ordinance appointing members to <br />various Boards and Commissions and determine alternate positions to Chapter 172. <br />Mayor Porter presented summary and recommendation and answered Council's questions. <br />Mayor Porter recommended moving George Van Dyke from the alternate position to <br />Citizen Position 1 and Steve Valerius to Citizen Position 2. <br />Council directed the City Attorney to revise the structure of the ordinance adding Matt <br />Daeumer to an alternate position with flexibility in addition to adding terms to alternate <br />positions as other positions.
